Global Humanitarian Builders EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Objective: Global Humanitarian Builders plans on providing panelized housing units that can be transported and easily erected in such areas as Haiti where a earthquake has devastated tens of thousands of homes and buildings and also overseas, such as Indonesia that experienced a devastating tsunami that destroyed many towns and villages. These insulated steel reinforced panels are virtually mold-, mildew-, and rot-proof and are highly resistant to high winds and earthquakes. In addition to housing, these versatile nearly-indestructible panels can also be pre-fabricated into school buildings, libraries, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, and multi-story apartment complexes as well. These reinforced panels are so strong that they can be reused again if the need arises. Existing Manufacturing Facility: An existing 20 acre manufacturing facility that meets the needs of Global Humanitarian Builders already exists in Grays Harbor County in the city of Hoquiam. The Aberdeen-Hoquiam area has just recently lost nearly 600 family wage jobs due to the closure of the Weyerhauser Pulp Mill in Cosmopolis, also another 100 jobs due to the downsizing of Weyerhauser’s lumber mill, and another 500 family wage jobs due to the closure of Lamb Grays Harbor in Hoquiam a few years ago. Each of these lost jobs, in turn, has adversely affected 2 to 3 jobs in the service sector such as transportation and raw material providers. State-of-the-Art Steam Turbine Generator: An existing 20 acre manufacturing facility will also accommodate an onsite state-of-the-art very efficient steam turbine generator that will have the capability not only to supply power to the site but will also be able to supply excess power to the BPA and other major power utilities in the western United States. This would provide additional income for the project and would help to revitalize the economy of the Twin Harbors area. With additional upgrades this steam turbine generator has the potential of producing power from solid wastes such as used tires and plastics which would help to clean up the environment by turning solid waste products into usable energy. Rail System: This existing facility has a rail system to bring in raw materials and to ship out manufactured insulated steel panels in large quantities which can be transported across the country and also loaded onto large ocean-going container ships to Pacific Rim countries and tsunami-hit areas like Indonesia. This rail system at the manufacturing site can also be expanded as this facility grows. Shipping: The Port of Grays Harbor is currently retrofitting Terminal IV which has the capability to handle very large container ships with a length of over 300 meters and a width of 40 meters. Terminal IV has the capability to handle two or more ships simultaneously. Each container ship can hold up to 5000 separate containers and in turn each steel container can hold up to 4 complete houses consisting of individual pre-fabricated panels for a total of 20,000 housing units that could be shipped to practically any distressed area in the world. Infrastructure: The infrastructure such as existing manufacturing buildings, water, sewer, power, and telecommunication lines and equipment are already in place. Fiber optic data lines are also readily available with very little upgrade required. Three of the large manufacturing buildings already have in place 5-, 10-, and 15-ton cranes that will be used during the construction and manufacturing of the insulated steel housing panels.. Immediate Economic Benefits. With additional upgrades to the existing manufacturing facility, a state-of-the-art panelized manufacturing facility could be up and running in a relatively short time which would have immediate economic impact to this economically depressed area by bringing hundreds of family wage jobs. On the job training would be provided as well as apprenticeship training at the Grays Harbor College located just 15 minutes from the manufacturing site. For every job created at this facility there would be two to three additional jobs that would be created in the service and transportation industry. Environmentally Friendly: The proposed panelized manufacturing facility will be friendly to the environment with no smokestacks, chemical wastes, or pollutants flowing into the nearby Grays Harbor Bay. This will be a green manufacturing facility with state-of-the-art processes that will generate very hi-tech products with little-to-no pollutants generated. A recycling system will be employed so that waste products will be kept to minimum. Airport: 5000 foot jet-capable Bowerman Airfield is located within a mile of this hi-tech panelized manufacturing facility with an Instrumented Landing System and support buildings nearby. In an international emergency situation food, water, medical, and emergency building equipment could be readily mobilized to just about any distresses area in the world. Summary: As can be seen this renovated state-of-the-art–insulated steel panelized manufacturing facility and a state-of-the-art steam turbine generator system would be of great benefit to this economically distressed area. Other nations around the world would benefit from these versatile nearly indestructible steel insulated panels that are in need of immediate housing due to natural and man-initiated disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, famines, and wars. Global Humanitarian Builders would be able to provide this badly needed relief to these economically and environmentally distressed areas of the world in a timely and cost effective manner. 1. THE COMPANY AND ITS FOUNDERS The company name was changed in February 2010 to Global Humanitarian Builders from the name Global Angels of Light, which was formed September 9, 2004. Robert Davenport, Daniel James and Daniel McGee are the founders of the company. The mission of Global Humanitarian Builders is to manufacture insulated steel panelized homes that will withstand earthquake and hurricane natural disasters. Daniel McGee has a business background managing healthcare facilities and marketing for a large publishing firm. He was also a pastor and has several years experience in the construction industry building churches, schools and homes.
