Full Description (Required)
Touched By Jesus is a counseling and outreach ministry to the poor, broken and imprisoned members of the community. The jail ministry has successfully reached into the lives of many inmates who continue in one-to-one mentoring after release. SW Florida has a noted lack of secure transitional housing for inmates and their families upon release. This project will create a housing and educational center, to provide housing with counseling, life-skill training leading to employment. As well as, SW Florida there is an identified need in the Jacksonville area.
This project, known as Bethel House, will encompass two phases, the first in Fort Myers and the second in Jacksonville. Property has been identified in both cities. The Fort Myers property will handle approximately 60 individuals with a need to construct a family building and offices. The number of family rooms needed has yet to be determined. There is potential to purchase undeveloped land adjacent to the primary building for the family building and other needs.
The Jacksonville property is underdeveloped with the need to construct the facility. There is additional land that could be sold or controlled for a youth camp and land available for future commercial development. This property contains a building that would be used for youth-oriented programs, including a music school.
Bethel House will be a start for these individuals, and continue to offer mentoring and skill training after they are able to live independently.
Funding Purpose
The Bethel House projects will comprise two phases. The Fort Myers phase for purchase, construction, equipment and furnishings, plus first year operations requiring approximately $8.5 million. The Jacksonville phase for purchase, construction, equipment and furnishings, plus first year operations is $25 million max (the total costs could be lower if purchase negotiations are successful.) The total investment is $33.5 million.
