Full Description (Required)
Subject: A proposal to purchase and educate in the usage of healthy, bacteria free water for Miami-Dade County, Florida and the Miccosukee Indian reservation in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Purpose I write this letter to propose a solution to a recurring problem in Miami-Dade. The problem is that in the population in the Inner City and Empowerment areas do have access to clean water. The population becomes frustrated and they do not know that its due in part to clean water. Water with no bacterias, viruses and parasites which are crucial for not getting sick with episodes of diarrhea and the reduction of the number of episodes which consequently would assist in the numbers of deaths. I suggest we can order eco-distillers that run on solar power, to provide safe drinking-water for people. Problem(s) of drinking non clean water • The health effects of drinking contaminated water can range from no physical impact to severe illness or even death. • Some of the effects of drinking contaminated water can be immediate, or not noticed for many years. These include gastrointestinal and stomach illnesses like: o nausea o vomiting o cramps o diarrhea • Many factors affect the possible impact on health such as: o the age and general health status of the person o the type of contaminant o the amount o how long the person has been drinking the contaminated water Solution to Problem I propose that we purchase this product called “Solar powered water filter.” They work quickly and effectively and is a viable way to eradicate this problem. Eliodomestico carries this product designed specifically to provide drinking water for families here in the South Florida area. Eliodomestico is a solar still that operates a bit like an upside-down coffee maker. At the beginning of the day, water is poured into the terracotta chamber. As the day begins the still heats up and eventually gets hot enough to boil the water, creating steam. The steam forced into the expansion nozzle at the top and then condenses against the lid, where it then drips down into the catch basin below. At the end of the day, assuming it was hot enough outside, there will be 5 liters of fresh drinking water available. The solar-powered filter can function without fuel, electricity, filters, and it requires no maintenance. I propose we purchase 1,000 units since it has received strong reviews in Time magazine naming it one of the 50 greatest inventions of 2012, it can solve the problem of potable water and the social impact can be a considerable one. In addition to having a facility where we can educate the people and store the units. Costs The Eliodomestico runs for a cost of $100 but since we are purchasing a considerable amount I firmly believe we can get a discount but for now the total cost would be $100,000.00. There are several solar powered water filters that cost more and less than this one but because of the research I’ve done I believe that purchasing a middle-priced one will be a wise choice for the Miami-Dade area. We can initially rent an office for about $5,000.00 a month with additional costs like utility and Internet would run for another $300.00 a month totaling $5,300.00 a month and for a year that would total $63,600. Finding a ware house would also fit in the bill. So I will look at three (3) different places to determine which would suit what we are intending for. Conclusion In conclusion, I think purchasing an solar powered water filter for the poor and needy people in South Florida would be a benefit for them not only health wise but economically since they would not have to drink the State water that contains Flouride and bacterias that affects their well being. Thank you for considering this purchase for the betterment of the local folks in South Florida. Carlos Peters Voice: 786-728-3407
