Higher Power Youth Academy is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the development of capable citizens through sports, education and culture. Founded in 2007 by two-time Olympian, Gale Fitzgerald, its inception grew from the desire to create a brand new world for the youth of today. Glaring statistics reflect the relation between poverty, lack of education, obesity and low self esteem to teenage pregnancy, gangs and violence, depression, bullying and anger. Helping the youth of today become the leaders of tomorrow, H.P.Y.A offers to empower youth through access to information on: Nutrition, Sports, Education, Spirituality, Humanism and The Arts. Beginning in two locations in the country, Southern California and New Jersey, Higher Power Youth Academy's ultimate goals are to build youth centers around the country that prepare children and young adults to enter college and to live value-creating and responsible lives. H.P.Y.A. Curriculum SPORTS EDUCATION - instruction, training and competition in soccer, basketball, football, tennis and additional sports. PEACE EDUCATION - Where young people learn to root the practice of nonviolence in human society. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - Youth study current ecological realities and means of protecting the environment. DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION - Attention is focused on issues of poverty and global justice. HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION - Where students are taught to awaken to the awareness of human equality and dignity. MISSION STATEMENT What is the purpose of life? It is to become absolutely happy. Happiness means different things to different people. Youth should not just seek an easy comfortable path. No one develops in a pampered environment. Youth should instead, actively seek out challenges and transform them all into valuable assets as they strive to become individuals of outstanding character and ability who work hard to polish their intellect. HIGHER POWER YOUTH ACADEMY'S mission is to empower today's youth to reveal their inherent qualities and awaken to a sense of mission. When each youth awakens to their unique mission and purpose in life, their power is limitless. Ultimately, we have to entrust our hope and visions for the future to them. The fundamental purpose therefore of our organization is to reach out to such young people, work with them and bring out their capabilities and direct their youthful energies in a positive direction. FOUNDERS BIOGRAPHY Ms. Gale Fitzgerald began her career as a highly experienced Educator. She obtained a B.A. and M.A. degree in Health and Physical Education from Montclair State College, Upper Montclair, New Jersey and attended Texas Women's University, Denton, Texas, as a Ph. D. candidate. Gale was a member of the 1972 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team (Munich, Germany), 1976 U.S. Ollympic Track and Field Team (Montreal, Canada) and won a Silver Medal at the 1975 Pan-American Games in Mexico City, Mexico as a pentathlete. Her professional background includes Lecturer, Director and Coach at several high schools and colleges including: Mt. San Antonio College, Cerritos College, Los Angeles Trade and Technical College, New York City Community College and California State University, Dominquez Hills. Ms. Fitzgerald branched out from teaching and became the #1 life insurance agent for Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company (Phoenix, Arizona), and is currently a representative for telecommunications network builder and designer, Wylink, Inc. headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Her most valuable and rewarding career endeavor was when she served as Program Director for the National Youth Sports Program sponsored by the Federal Government, NCAA and USDA. The National Youth Sports Program provided youth of the community with sports instruction and important educational and growth experiences that may not have otherwise been available. This life changing experience prompted Gale to realize her mission in life - to give back to society the same opportunities she had as a youth - and create HIGHER POWER YOUTH ACADEMY. What do we think HIGHER POWER YOUTH ACADEMY will earn in return for all of its efforts? I believe the answer is: IT WILL MAKE IN RETURN - A NEW SOCIETY. A society where youth understand that dreams come true by working hard, being consistent and taking responsibility for every action they take. We will urge each student to create something, start something and make a success of something, no matter what! At Higher Power Youth Academy we believe that "a great revolution in just a single individual will help achieve a change in the destiny of a society, and further, will enable a change in the destiny of humankind."

Funding is necessary to create full and partial scholarships for high school students entering college; establish local community centers; hire teachers and to build sports facilities to teach and train promising young student- athletes.
