Full Description (Required)
Preface – “Mending Broken Hearts & Meeting Needs”… “GAAEPP” --- *(I have a full project outlay in PDF or Doc format and can send it to you upon request. It will do the explanation more justice.) The devastation and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina have caused an evolution and or idea that have spawned into a true humanitarian effort that is called "The Guardian Angel Adoption Program", a direct community life-line to assist those people who need immediate assistance during the Katrina Aftermath in an ongoing benevolent fashion. James D. Harris, Jr. is the author of the program and began developing it during the Hurricane Aftermath after noticing the great gulf of needs that were not being met in the community where the church edifice resides. After working with the Red Cross personally, Minister Harris, Jr. saw a need that was waiting to be met through immediate and positive action to link others outside the area of devastation to those who were directly inside the eye of the devastation. The Guardian Angel Adoption Program is a family-to-family endeavor that pairs families who have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina to get assistance from other families across the nation to collectively meet the needs of the "adopted" family in need. Usually, 5 or more families are paired with the one adopted family to spread the responsibility of meeting the needs of the devastated with no one family bearing the burden of the relief effort alone. We also work with any organization who wishes to help those who need it most here on the Gulf Coast. To date approximately 550 (+) families have been assisted in some way with more relief coming in the days and months to come. Over 7,000 meals have been supplied to many residents who needed these services. With the success of this community based programme, we now wish to take the next step in evolution to be an even more interactive and powerful help to those who are hurting and in need after a major calamity, natural disaster or life-changing emergency. God has blessed us with a unique perspective about how to be effective after a major upheaval occurs, especially after a disaster like this comes to pass. This type of interaction “during the fray” so to speak has forged within us an insight and aptitude to know how to go in and be a direct help to those who have been displaced and left without sustainable necessities to make it “after the storm”. My Dear Mother, Pauline H. Harris, who has gone on to glory instilled in me a deep desire to be a difference-maker in my fellow human beings' lives, as she wisely reminded me: “There’s good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us, so it behooves none of us to talk about the rest of us.” This wise counsel has been imbedded into my heart and is one of the themes and mantra’s that I keep with me every day of my life! Meeting one another’s needs is one of the essential duties that we have to one another, as Jesus himself stated in Matthew 25:35- 40; “For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” This is an exciting time to know that we have been blessed with the ability to help others in a very special way with no fan-fare or praise; just the thought that a family, a father and/or a mother, a daughter or a son… that people will be blessed in the most considerate way possible with all humility. That is the key! This will also help redeem the love that we should have for our fellow-man on so many levels. The fact is disasters happen just as sure as the sun rises and falls; just as sure as the tide flows in and out… emergencies outside of our control will occur in many fashions and in many locales. Our goal is to be ready through proper preparation and planning to meet the needs on the ground for those who have been adversely affected by the calamity that they are experiencing. We are now… "The Guardian Angel Adoption & Emergency Preparedness Project" Our motto is: "Touching Lives...ONE at a TIME!" "Building Communities...ONE by ONE!" "Making an Impact... FOREVER!" James D. Harris, Jr. MISSION STATEMENT: We, the American People, a Nation “Under God”, declare today We are very concerned and this earnest concern has moved us to action as to the welfare and the plight of our Fellow Human Beings Here in our country and in the world as a whole. This is an opportunity we stand on to deliver assistance to our weary comrades who have fallen victim to diverse emergencies and life-changing calamities. We will bond as a secure network and equipped unit of concerned providers with no other purpose than to meet the needs of those who cannot meet their own needs through these emergencies, calamities and natural disasters. We will utilize our resources to access, stabilize and comfort those who are suffering through this most difficult of times through planned, directed and measured campaigns that will assist those who are already on the ground. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Scope: Disaster Relief and Emergency Preparedness are two specific areas of human assistance that require strategic planning and a fluid plan of action that can meet the needs of the community that is under duress due to a recent disaster or natural calamity. The ability to access the needs quickly and move as soon as possible to meet those immediate and intermediary needs are crucial to assisting the affected populace and returning them to some level of normalcy and quality of life. As per the Humanitarian Organization called “Change.Org” in a recent online report entitled “Statistics on Humanitarian Relief”, they state plainly, “Given the fragmented nature of the humanitarian sector, it’s difficult to estimate the total number of people receiving humanitarian assistance, much less the total number in need. However, proxy statistics can give a sense of scope.” *(I have so much more and if you allow me to send you the full project business plan... it will unfold in front of your eyes as it did mine. I did not see an area that you currently have set aside for this specific endeavor, so I would like to request that another category specifically proposed for Emergency preparedness and Disaster Relief possibly set aside for this powerful and much needed work. **Please consider this... I have worked on this for the last 8 years... thank you so much for this avenue and venue to reach out and touch our fellow man.) --- Agapetre ---
Funding Needed
$10Mil Up
Funding Purpose
*Upon funding, implementation will begin immediately with formation of a GAAEPP Central Management Trust Team along with legal structure and as well as associated accounting firm oversight. This will create many, many jobs and will meet all mandates as to privacy and discretion to be helpful… not haphazardly visible. The evidence of our work will be present, but our presence will be kept as private as possible. With the increase in emergency incidents in the domestic landscape, now more than ever before this type or project/endeavor is greatly needed to supplement and assist existing disaster relief agencies and organizations and also fill in the gaps where the other organizations cannot continue. We will have quarterly audits to continue to internally meet all goals and objectives as laid forth by any humanitarian effort and organization and each person associated with this effort will be hand-picked and must exhibit the qualities and coincide with the vision and scope that is the… Guardian Angel Adoption & Emergency Preparedness Project. *(I have a full budget and outlay proposal in the full business plan and outlay. Ready to send upon request.) *(I do have a staff that I have developed over the years that will also assist me in reading this endeavor to fruition. They will be a part of the Central Management Trust Team. There will be an array of many other positions that will be needed to make this endeavor complete. Many, many, many jobs will be created and many, many, many, many more people will be reached!)
